About the Campaign

Be One of the Sustainable Households Leading the Energy Transition

The primary goal of our campaign is to engage 350 households across a range of neighborhoods in the Netherlands, inviting them to take part in a rewarding energy-saving journey through serious games, creative activities, and community engagement. Our pilot study is designed to be as inclusive as possible, welcoming participants of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences — including students, families, educators, and local leaders. Together, we aim to build a sustainable community and demonstrate how small, fun, and creative actions can lead to meaningful changes in everyday life and have a lasting impact. Our focus is on encouraging self-consumption, reducing peak energy usage, and fostering positive energy-saving culture.

“Together, we are building a strong and resilient community of enery enthusiasts.”

How it Works?

We want you to feel confident before joining GAIM. That’s why we’ve made it easy to understand how the campaign works — and how the game fits your time, goals, and interests. GAIM runs over several weeks, with a new energy-saving challenge each week that you complete at home. To participate, all you need is a smart meter — and chances are, you already have one (95% of Dutch households do!). You can play on your own or team up with family, friends, or neighbors. Each challenge helps you see how energy use affects your daily life — from your bills and habits to your impact on the environment.
